Pharmacist’s Role in Pregnancy

The course addresses the following key areas of need:

·        Pharmacological Foundations: Understanding how physiological changes in pregnancy affect drug action and correctly applying new FDA labeling guidelines (PLLR).
·        Safe OTC & Supplement Counseling: Guiding patients on safe supplementation and over-the-counter products, while dispelling common myths.
·     Common Pregnancy Ailments: Providing safe and effective guidance for common issues like nausea, GERD, and pain.
·        Chronic Disease Management: Safely managing medications for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
·        High-Risk Medications: Identifying and counseling patients on dangerous, teratogenic drugs and unsafe herbal supplements.
·     Lactation & Postpartum Care: Guiding patients on drug transfer into breast milk and managing common breastfeeding challenges.
